IFAPA Spring Conference

March 4 & 5, 2011 - Des Moines, IA

IFAPA hosts a spring training conference every year for foster, adoptive and kinship parents and social workers. The IFAPA Spring Conference offers many great training opportunities from experts in the field. All of our conference trainings are approved for foster parent credit and many are also approved for social work CEUs.

The 2011 Spring Conference will be held on Friday, March 4 and Saturday, March 5 at the Ramada Tropics Resort and Conference Center in Des Moines. This hotel offers access to their 18,000 square foot indoor waterpark (for hotel guests), poolside tiki bar, 3 large pools with hot tub, pirate ship, waterslides and a variety of arcade games. 2011 IFAPA State Conference – Call for Presenters

If you have skills or knowledge that could benefit Iowa's foster/adoptive/kinship parents, please consider presenting at the annual IFAPA State Conference to be held on March 4-5, 2011. We are currently accepting proposals for presentations at the 2011 conference. Please complete the electronic Call for Presenters Application. The deadline for submission is Friday October 1st. Sessions may either be 3, 6 or 12 hours in length.

Proposed presentations should address topics such as:

• Advanced issues in Foster Care, Adoption and Therapy
• Advocacy and Public Policy
• International Adoptions
• Kinship Care
• Parenting Children with Special needs/difficult behaviors
• Permanency Options
• Race, Culture and Diversity
• Attachment
• Juvenile Justice system
• Working with Birth parents
• Crisis management
• Team building

CALL FOR PRESENTERS APPLICATION

IFAPA will make the final session selections after our staff reviews each proposal. We will notify prospective presenters about final session decisions by October 22, 2010.

PLEASE NOTE: As of October 2009, with the exception of CPR, First Aid and Mandatory Reporter classes, foster parents cannot receive training credit for any class that they have previously attended and used for re-licensing.
